This 0.8 mile (one way) trail ends along the creek to the snow field at the foot of Byron Glacier. From here you can scramble up the rocks to the glacier. You must register in the book at the Trailhead prior to commencing.

In summer you can walk and climb very close to the glacier. The viewing platform is pretty far away cause the glacier melted veeery quick in the past couple years. We met an old man from Homer he told us he was there 13 years ago and the glacier was very close to the viewing platform.. Pretty sad.
