Description

Located in a magnificent yet rugged canyon, Cochise Stronghold has 11 individual campsites and two group sites that can hold up to 20 people each. Tent and trailer camping are allowed, but trailers must not be longer than 16 ft. Campers coming in groups of over 25 people are requested to call the Douglas Ranger District to get a Recreational Event Permit. All campsites at Cochise Stronghold are shaded by oaks and surrounded by a diverse community of vegetation. Campers can take a stroll on the Stronghold Nature Trail, which follows a 0.4-mile barrier-free loop that wanders among the yucca, cactus, and rocks. On the other hand, the Cochise Trail is also wheelchair-accessible and climbs over the top of the Dragoons past dozens of fantastic rock formations. No potable water is available in the campground. Bring plenty with you. Black bears in area. Store and dispose of all food in bear-safe containers and trash bins or keep it locked in your vehicle.

Dry campground in winter. There are two spigots, so maybe water in spring/fall. No dump station, road in is okay, some washboard, but had no trouble in 26ft rig. Two group sites have no minimum, max 10 people, we stayed in a group site with 5 people.
