Description

Tucked away just off the Catalina Highway, General Hitchcock Campground is nestled under a canopy of ponderosa pines, junipers and oaks. It has 11 campsites, but due to its small size, the campground is not recommended for RVs or trailers. Each campsite has fire pits, bear boxes, shade, and a huge flat space to put a tent. Due to its closeness to the Bear Creek, there are a lot of mosquitos in the area, so it is recommended to bring bug spray. The campground houses one of the most popular hikes in the area, the Green Mountain Trail #21. Campers are led from the sites to Maverick Spring Trail #704, Bush Corral Shortcut Trail #21A, Bush Corral Trail #19, and Catalina Highway at mile post 18. This is perfect for hikers looking for a new adventure in Arizona!
