Description

The Painted Rock Petroglyph Site and Campground provides visitors the opportunity to view an ancient archaeological site containing hundreds of symbolic and artistic rock etchings, or 'petroglyphs'. See several inscriptions made by people who passed through during historic times, and hike the historic trails that lie within the campground, such as The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, The Butterfield Overland Stage Route and the Mormon Battalion Trail. Visitors can learn more about the site and its historic trails with the professional interpretive panels located onsite. Campers can enjoy the picnic tables, grills, steel fire rings, and the vault toilet available in the area. However, there is no drinking water at Painted Rock.

Good, quiet, affordable place. No shadow exept some shaded picnic tables. Pit toilets ok to use. Must be self contained. Dumpster at exit
