Description
Enjoy the view at Picacho Peak State Park as the park offers great hiking trails that wind up the peak and overlook a sea of wildflowers. Known for its unique geological significance, the park offers a visitor center with exhibits and a park store, a playground, historical markers, a campground and picnic areas.
Hiking trails at the park vary in difficulty, and hikers are reminded to wear suitable hiking boots, and bring gloves and plenty of water. There are two easy trails (Nature and Children's Cave), two moderate trails (Calloway and Sunset Vista), and a difficult trail (Hunter) with steel cables anchored in place.
Visitors can also try to camp at the park, which features 85 electric sites for both tent and RV camping. All sites can accommodate up to 10 individuals (max. 6 adults per campsite) and no more than four vehicles per site.

This is a beautiful state park. We stopped by and it was full but we stayed in the overflow area for $15. A night. That is dry camping no hookups but beautiful. Very quiet. Some wildlife and wildflowers. There are vault toilets available in overflow area. As soon as a spot opened up in campground we had to move over there. Nice pull through sites or back in. Electric is at your site as well as a picnic table and fire ring. Very large sites that are more private. Sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. It's close to I-10. Good roads in. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice restrooms and showers that are well maintained. There are hiking trails at different skill levels with a ,02 one for kids which I thought was great. Loved it here and plan on coming back.
