Description

Promontory Pit Road Campground is a dispersed camping area along Rim Road, with access to recreational opportunities at the nearby Bear Canyon Lake, and exploration opportunities along the Mogollon Rim. Camping here is primitive, with potable water, vault toilets, and other amenities provided. Camping outside developed areas means visitors should bring adequate water or be prepared to purify any water source before drinking. Although a majority of the forest roads are well-maintained, high clearance vehicles are recommended especially during snow or heavy rain.
