Description

A short distance off the Catalina Highway is Spencer Canyon Campground, facing the city of Tucson and the Santa Cruz Valley, and giving a distant panorama through openings in the forest canopy. The campground has 66 sites, with each including a concrete table, firepit, BBQ grill and a bear box for food storage. Each camping area also has clean, stocked vault toilets, and campground hosts live onsite. Campers can also buy firewood by the bundle from the hosts. Spencer Canyon provides a habitat for the wild animals, which is great for wildlife viewing. Among the wildlife that frequent the area are Abert's squirrels and the Steller's jay, which are bold blue birds.

Good dirt road.Vault toilets, mostly clean.Trash bins.Space for smaller RVs.Seems tent camping is most popular. Not many level areas developed for tents.Spotty cell phone service.
