Founded in 1952, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a 98-acre zoo, aquarium, botanical garden, natural history museum, and art gallery in Tucson. The museum is run by a non-profit organization, and focuses on the interpretation of the natural history, plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert. Visitors can see more than 230 animal species and 1,200 varieties of plants that made the museum their home. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum features tons of exhibits and experiences such as Rivers to the Sea, which comprises two galleries featuring fresh and salt water species including those from the Gulf of California; Earth Sciences Center, where visitors can learn the region's geology and examine minerals in a replica limestone cave; and the Riparian Corridor, which houses a river otter, beavers, bighorn sheep, fishes and aquatic invertebrates.

Must-see in the area! Very informative, with knowledgeable and helpful staff, that let you touch snakes, explain cactus, give free tours... Also, don't miss the predator tours! Great for kids and also for adults.
