Description

The Cinder Hills is a scenic recreation area enjoyed by many off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. Its numerous volcanic cinder cones and craters surrounded by a ponderosa pine forest environment gives the area its unique value. The overlook is located on Sunset Crater - Wupatki Loop Road 5.4 miles from its southern intersection with US 89. Turn south and drive to the end of a 0.2 mile road to reach the vista point and turnaround. Parking is very limited and there are no facilities at this location.
