Description

Add the Colossal Cave Mountain Park to the itinerary, and explore the stunning rock formations inside Colossal Cave. The park offers three types of tours: (1) The Classic Cave Tour, a half-mile long guided walk where tourists can learn about the cave's history, its legends, and its unique geology. The tour takes approximately 40 minutes to complete, and leads guests six stories deep (363 stair steps) where a lot of amazing cave formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flow stone, box work, and helicopters can be found. (2) The Ladder Tour, which takes visitors through seldom seen sections of the cave that have been limited to the public since the 1950s. This is a 1.5-hour tour which gives a unique perspective on the mysterious cave system. Participants will be provided hard hats and lights, and full-fingered gloves should be brought by participants themselves or bought from the park's store. (3) The Wild Cave Tour, a 3.5-hour full blast exploration which follows the footsteps of the early 19th century explorers through rugged, unlit, unmarked, and rarely seen passageways. This tour is restricted to those 16 and older, with hard hats and lights provided. Gloved can be bought at the park store or brought by the participants. Knee and elbow pads are also recommended for all participants. With 2,400 acres, there's a lot to see and explore in Colossal Cave Mountain Park, such as hiking, running, mountain biking and horseback riding on some of the area's popular trails.
