Description
Located in within Homolo'vi State Park, the Homolo'vi II Ruins brings tourists history at every trail. Homolo'vi (pronounced huh-MALL-uh-vee) is a Hopi word meaning 'place of the little hills'. There are several trail signs that may have contradictory information about the number of rooms that the Homolovi II once had, but it all comes down to a range of 800 to 1200 rooms housing 750 to several thousand people.
Hikers will see that the rocks along the sides of the trail display mostly pottery sherds, and may be some game pieces or figurines back then. A primitive trail should lead visitors over the cliff to a small valley, where they can find numerous petroglyphs etched on some of the large boulders.
