Built in 1904 as the first of eight projects at the Grand Canyon that were designed by architect Mary Colter, Hopi House was built by the Fred Harvey Company as a market for Native American crafts made by the Hopi - the historic inhabitants of the area.
It is now a component of the multi-site Mary Jane Colter Buildings National Historic Landmark as designated in 1987, and the National Park Service has been maintaining its original architectural and design elements.
