Named after Thomas Moran, an artist known for his landscape paintings of the western United States, Moran Point is one of the most visited points on East Rim Drive, offering far reaching views along a wide section of the Grand Canyon.

The Desert View Drive viewpoint showcases the Grand Canyon's ancient rock formation and the Colorado River. Although Coronado Butte blocks some of the southern cliffs to the west, there are still fine views over a succession of red ridges and ravines.
