Description
Founded in 1967, the 24-acre Reid Park Zoo is a city-owned and non-profit zoo featuring more than 500 animals, such as the Poison Dart Frog, the Ring-Tailed Lemur, and the African Spotted-necked Otter. The zoo consists of four zones organized by types of habitats and animals they house.
The Adaptation Zone houses the grizzly bear and Aldabra giant tortoise, the South America zone has the jaguar and spectacled bear, the African Animals zone features animals such as the lion and giraffe, and the Asian zone houses the tiger.
Visitors can purchase their tickets online or onsite at the entrance. Reid Park Zoo also offers memberships ranging from $27 to $1,000, which features free admission, exclusive member-only benefits, discounts on Zoo camps and rentals, and much more.
The zoo also has an 'Adopt An Animal' program, where visitors can become a 'parent' to their favorite animal for an annual adoption fee, ranging from $30 to $300 and includes a certificate of adoption and other benefits depending on the package.
