If you are looking for a day trip, a visit to the famous Purcell Murals is worth a try. They were painted in 1966 by Roy Purcell on granite boulders. He was supported by the local residents as he made his masterpiece, "The Journey", which is a 2,000-square foot set of murals.
To reach the murals upon arriving in Chloride, you just need to continue on Tennessee avenue to the east edge of town. About a mile and a half to the canyon, you will find the murals.

Beautiful murals originally painted by Roy Purcell in the 60s. Road quite rough in spots but friend made it fine in a Toyota Corolla. Suggest asking about road condition at visitor center if not driving a high clearance vehicle.
