Description
The Sycamore Reservoir Trail is a 11.9 kilometer moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Mount Lemmon. It offers some wildlife watching opportunities, and has a number of activity options best done from September until May. Pets are able to go on hikes with their owners on this trail, but must be kept on a leash.
The trail starts in an area occupied by the remnants of an old prison camp, and a 4-wheel drive road now winds through the ruins to a trailhead at the Push Ridge Wilderness boundary.
At the Wilderness boundary, campers should see that the trail parallels an abandoned road heading downhill towards the reservoir. It is highly recommended that visitors should use the trail rather than the road to prevent erosion. When the trail enters Sycamore Canyon, it would share a portion of its course with an old fire line bulldozed to stop a chaparral fire some time ago.
