Description

Walnut Canyon National Monument is a unit of the National Park System that features a visitor center, where native artifacts, museum exhibits and a bookstore can be found. Visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of the canyon and distant mountains at the lobby or tour the canyon by following the Island and Rim trails, which are two paved footpaths that begin at the visitor center. There are two ranger-guided hikes offered by the visitor center, which require reservations. Visitors can also picnic in designated areas, but camping is not allowed in the park.

Amazing place to see the cliff dwellings from over 800 years ago. The canyon view is amazing and the history very interesting. Be prepared for many stairs at a high elevation. The trail is a 1 mile loop and has 273 stairs.
