Description

Dispersed camping is allowed outside the parking lot of this free campsite within reach of the natural landmark, Amboy crater. The area is asphalted but there are dirt spots where you can pitch your tent. It tends to get crowded during weekends so prepare yourself to encounter a lot of campers. There are no water and toilets available in the area. For the activities, aside from visiting the crater, you can also do hiking and mountain biking.

Just arrived at 21:22. Toilets are unlocked, lots of insects (moths) its completely silent and the asphalt looks very new. Also the picknick tables have a roof. Only a water source is missing. A good stop for you way to mojave or las vegasAlso no light anywhere, also not in the restrooms

BLM slept on the paved area, you could still hear trains but with earplugs it was fine. Had a great time, breakfast at the picnic area with table

Flat paved area before the Amboy Crater Trailhead. Toilets and picnic tables further along the road at the Trailhead. Do not camp at the Trailhead. A train goes past about every half an hour and it can be noisy.
