Description

Campers in the 27 sites at Buckeye Flat can hear the rushing Kaweah River, as it sits along its Middle Fork. The campground has flush toilets, potable water, trash bins, and food storage lockers. It is closed during fall and winter, and on holidays. Summers are usually hot and dry. Sometimes, snow is possible when the campground opens on Spring. Campers are required to store their food properly to protect the bears. Sites 20 and 24 are accessible sites. RVs and trailers are not permitted here. Camping fee is $22 a night, with 50% discount to seniors and access pass holders.

To get there turn off the main generals highway across the from hospital rock picnic area. The road is small, unmarked and easy to miss. Go in about 1-2 miles and you'll be there. Also it's pretty warm here compared to other sites in the park since it's lower in elevation. Lots of big families here as well

Reservations only, non reserved sites can be taken for only 1 night at a time. Sites are large and mostly level, restrooms are well maintained. Couple of swim spots up the trail. It's not prohibited to swim but discouraged since people drown often in the raging river. The safer swim spot is at Paradise Creek just a tad further up past the bridge

Really nice campground. Nice amenities. Really lovely. Careful at the mosquitos!!!
