A local who works and sleeps in his van here says local police regularly check this spot around midnight for overnighters. Posted no overnight parking, although vigilantes destroyed all but one of the signs. Nevertheless, the fine is $90. So, park instead up the hill to the east (but not over) on the south side on the shoulder.
