Description

Named after a pioneering lumberman, railroad owner, and banker of the region, D.L. Bliss State Park came to life when the D.L. Bliss family donated 744 acres to the State Park system in 1929. Visitors come to the park to see the Balancing Rock, a feature attraction of a short, half mile self-guided nature trail, which weighs around 130 tons and is now balanced on the rock below. Campers and visitors can enjoy swimming or scuba diving in the sparkling water of Lake Tahoe, or hiking the Rubicon Trail, Lighthouse Trail, and Balancing Rock Trail.
