Description

Camping is allowed after the first 2 miles down the road. High clearance vehicle is recommended as the road is very bumpy. It is a great base camp if you are exploring Furnace creek. Mobile signal is pretty decent in this campground. Make sure to have everything you need with you. Also, pack-in what you pack-out and don't leave any trace.

It's quite complicated with a regular car (we had a van) to go there. I think « hole in the wall » camping is an easiest access

Camping prohibited on first mile (general rule for every dirt road). Doable with a 2WD, but I cannot recommend it for low clearance.

Camp only in previously disturbed areas and park your vehicle immediately adjacent to the roadway to minimize impact. The wilderness boundary is 50 feet from the center of most dirt roads. Free voluntary permits for backcountry camping may be obtained at the visitor center or any ranger station. Solo hikers may want to provide additional information about plans and emergency contacts.
