Description
Sitting 6,000 feet above sea level, Greenhorn Mountain Park is nestled in a forest of cedars and pines. Several hiking and biking trails can be accessed from here including the 8,285-foot Sunday Peak. The campground offers 70 campsites for tents, small RVs and trailers. As much as the management wants to open the campground all year, winter snow is a reason to close it at some point.
Campsites have picnic tables and BBQ pit or fire ring, but no hookups. Flush and pit toilets, water, and shower are available. Individual campsites are on a first come, first serve basis. Camping fee is $18 a night and $16 for seniors and with disabilities. Pets are allowed as long as they are on leash. RVs up to 24 feet in length can be accommodated.
Lake Isabella is nearby the park where you can go boating, waterskiing, or fishing.

Ghost campground, empty and closed.

Nice and cool campground (6000 ft high). Lot of shade. Completely empty when we visited during July : no campground host nor people, showers closed. Unpaved or bad condition roads in the campground. Tent ok but expect sloppy terrain on most sites.

Great site. Hosts were there and said a busy week for them is maybe 2 people. This long weekend was PACKED! showers were free. There are two entrances. We took the first one we saw as we were ascending on the road and it felt like a wrong turn. Later found out there is a second entrance (better for RVs) just a short way farther up the road.
