Description
Camping outside Joshua Tree National Park is free in 2 sites to the north and south of the park. These are open desert spots that have no facilities to use. Few rules must be observed such as you have to set up at least one mile away from a road, 500 feet away from a hiking trail, and must be outside day-use area such as the view point, visitor center, and picnic area.
