Description
If you want to delve into true wilderness, you may fancy trying to camp at Kelso Dunes. There is a lot of room for cycling, horseback riding, and of course, hiking the dunes.
With over 600 feet in elevation, it sure is a challenging, yet worthy deep sand hike.
There are no official campgrounds here, but you can trek and camp anywhere you want for that rugged camping experience in a pristine environment. Don't expect a good cell signal and just enjoy the views. At night, no city lights are visible, but the starry skies will do its job.
A clean vault toilet is available, and multiple spots to camp where you can be far from other campers if you want solitude. Maximum length of vehicles that can be accommodated here is 25 ft.

Nice little campsite overlooking the dunes. Accessible by 2wd vehicle, take it slow on the access road (lots of potholes and some corrugations). Room for a few RV's. Phone reception very patchy (T Mobile)

One of our favorites. Stayed 2 nights very quiet and peaceful. Amazing night sky and sunsets. Its approx. 2 miles past the trailhead wed say. Keep going and youll see some firepits on your right. We managed with 2WD camper.
