Description

Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Lagunitas spans 2,882 acres, giving visitors shady strolls through the stately redwoods along Lagunitas Creek and exciting hikes to the top of Barnabe Peak, one of the best viewpoints in Marin County. The park lies 15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Visitors arriving to camp or picnic can use the Camp Taylor entrance, while those looking to hike up Devil's Gulch can park one mile west of Camp Taylor and walk across the boulevard. ADA hiking enthusiasts will be enthused with the wheelchair-accessible South Creek Trail, which winds 1.5 miles through a fern-filled forest on the banks of Lagunitas Creek and features great views of spawning salmon and flowers such as fetid adder's tongue, giant trillium, and redwood sorrel along the way. There is also the partly paved Cross Marin Trail bike path, which runs along the creek about three miles through the park. The trail follows the old North Pacific Coast Railroad right-of-way into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and is the park's only dog-friendly trail. Camp beneath majestic redwoods, or oaks and bay laurel at the bottom of Barnabe Peak, where newly-built cabins are also available. Reservations are highly recommended for regular campsites every day during peak season and on weekends year-round, as well as for group sites and cabins.

Bike+Hike Pretty nice spot, good restrooms and showers (TOKENS!) You need tokens for the shower and there is no machine and there was no ranger + camp host off duty, so we had to ask other campers for some spare tokens to get a shower... You can just stay for one night at the bike+Hike. If you want to make a rest day you need to pay for tent place (35$) and move your tent. All in all nice location, we met many nice cyclists :)
