Description
60 campsites spread out in 4 campgrounds of Santa Margarita Lake. Coyote campground has 13 tent-only sites, Roadrunner has 7 tent-only sites, Grey Pine has 24 RV sites, and Osprey has 10 RV-only campsites. Both Coyote and Roadrunner is close to the lake, Osprey is along the lake's edge, while Grey Pine is on hillside near the park entrance.
Sites have picnic tables and fire rings, but no hookups for RVs. Piped water, showers, and restrooms with flush toilets are available. You can rent a boat or launch your own at Santa Margarita Lake Marina. They have a swimming pool, too, and playground. Hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails can be accessed.
On weekdays, sites cost $28 and on weekends, they cost $31. Holiday rate is $36. A maximum of 8 people per site and 1 vehicle are allowed. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated. Pets are welcome as long as they are on leash.

It's a nice spot but some campsites have no shade at all. Free pool. Swimming in the lake is prohibited

Great spot with lovely hosts. Shower for $1 for 4min. Free pool, some campsites have shade, but you have to come early. Not far to the beach (50km). Good spot to avoid the expensive beach campgrounds.

This is a great quiet campground by the river. Roadrunner was the pick for us, but we were in spot 2 which had no shade. Spot 1 looked very shady.
