Just be careful all the time as Slab City is known as a lawless city.

Mobile reception is spotty. Move around and you will likely find a signal.

Not a bad place. Just be careful and lock up your stuff. Do not accept drinks that are not bottled/canned and sealed. People have been raped out there. Someone tried opening one of my doors while I was sleeping. My dog scared them away. I recommend going with a group or parking close to other visitors not people who established a permanent spot

You will love it or hate it. Camp out near the Lows. That's where the snow birds camp. Marked by an American and Canadian flag Lots of unusual people here. Mostly very friendly. The ones that aren't, leave them alone. As safe as parking on the street in any American city.
