Description

Beautiful mountain scenery accentuated by pines and cottonwoods will delight the campers at Upper Sage Flat. Big Pine Creek also runs past the campground which is annually stocked with trout for those who love fishing. Trails leading to Big Pine Lakes and other areas in John Muir Wilderness can be accessed, and mountaineers can climb the peaks along Sierra Crest. Upper Sage Flat campground has 20 campsites that can accommodate tents, and RVs and trailers not exceeding 40 feet. 6 people can stay in a single site for as long as 14 days. Picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof storage lockers are provided in the sites. Vault toilets and tap water are available. Camping fee is $27 a night. 18 of the sites can be reserved through recreation.gov while the remaining are on a first come, first serve basis. The campground opens from late April to October.
