Description

This vista point got its name from the so-called Desert Padre, Father John J. Crowley who was a Catholic priest who ministered the people of Inyo County in 1930s. Before Death Valley National Park was created, he would frequently stop here to admire the views. Father Crowley Vista Point overlooks the Rainbow Canyon which is the colorful canyon created by volcanic activity. You can reach this a quarter mile of walking or driving from the parking area.

Not necessarily worth a detour, but nice if you're driving past anyway!

So theres a huge parking area and a gravel road which takes you to a wonderful lookout. We managed the road with our 19ft RV. It was ok. Just go slowly. The spot is really isolated so sleeping there should be fine. We had no problems with 1 night. The view is stunning. High wind is possible.
