Description

Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area Visitor Center gives visitors some regional information about the Mono Basin Scenic Area in the Eastern Sierra and Yosemite National Park. The center displays exhibits on Mono Lake history, wildlife, and geology, and offers tourists a chance to explore the interpretive trail, or go on docent led tours of Mono Lake, South Tufa, or Panum Crater. This is where visitors can also purchase their Interagency passes, permits for wilderness trips, campfire permits, bear canisters rentals, and fuel wood collection permits. There's also a bookstore at the visitor center operated by The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA), with a comprehensive selection of books and maps of the region, and the revenue they make funds and supports interpretative programs.
