Barker Dam Nature Trail, Twentynine Palms, California
Description
A short nature trail surrounded by series of monzogranite boulders and will lead to Barker Dam. Every time it rains, a lake forms in the middle of the desert that was once used for irrigation and the ranch. The water in the dam depends on the amount of winter precipitation it received. There are times that it is filled up to the brim, while on some days, it is very dry.
Another highlight of this trail is the rock art site which tells the human history of the desert. Climbing these rocks are prohibited, as well as stepping, touching or disturbing them.
