Sitting on top of a granite dome, you will be rewarded with a majestic view of the Great Western Divide and other Sierra Nevada mountains as you finish climbing the 172-step stair flight which is suspended from the side of the rock. It was constructed in 1923 and was named after the term for male Indians which is 'bucks' because you can see the profile of an Indian warrior if you look at the rock from a certain angle.
There is a vault toilet available in the area.

Opened 10-5pm, drivable with 2wd but it is also an easy 3km walk from the camp
