Cholla Cactus Garden Trail, California
Description
It could probably be the most dangerous hike in Joshua Tree, not because of the terrain or ridges, but because of the teddybear cholla scattered around the 10 acre landscape. These are abundant in the months of March to May and can easily be recognized with its yellow spines, tightly clustered stems and dark lower trunk. Be careful because the stem joints can easily detach even with slightly brushing and might find its place on your shoes, clothes, or worse, your skin. Pulling them out will be very painful.
Other cacti and plants can also be seen in the garden depending on the season, such as hedgehog cactus, brittlebush, desert lavender, beavertail cactus, desert starvine, white ratany, pencil cholla, trixis and a lot more.
