Description
The Dutch Windmill is the northern of two functioning windmills on the western edge of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Completed in 1903, and placed on the San Francisco Designated Landmark list in 1981, the Dutch Windmill stands tall at about 75 feet into the air.
The windmill was originally constructed to pump water, and the rounds of restoration through the years were able to move the arms once again on the structure, but water is no longer pumped through. Find a garden filled with thousands of tulips that decorates the surrounding area of the windmill, and admire the interior harbors paintings that provide a taste of history although in need of serious repair.
