Description

The Elephant Seal Overlook is a short 0.3 mile walk from the Chimney Rock parking area, where 'Elephant Seal Overlook' signs can be followed by visitors to direct them down the driveway. The viewing platform is the best place in the seashore to see a large number of elephant seals, and visitors can bring binoculars to get a closer view of the seals. Patient visitors can even observe pup births, dominance displays of sparring and trumpeting, and breeding. Snoozing is the most common activity by the seals.
