Description
The Golden Gate Bridge is a tourist attraction known around the world, and the suspension bridge spanning the one-mile-wide strait Golden Gate that connects San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links San Francisco to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait.
The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco and California, and was initially designed by engineer Joseph Strauss in 1917, and later on declared as one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Walking (or riding) the bridge is a must do. Be sure to keep your eyes open for sea lions and dolphins in the bay.
