Description
Mesquite Flat is the best known and easiest to visit in Death Valley National Park. You can access it from Highway 90 or from unpaved Sand Dunes Road. The highest dune is about a hundred feet tall, but dunes cover a huge area. There are crescent, linear and star-shaped dunes. Polygon-cracked clay forms the floor. You can do sandboarding on these dunes.
It serves as a stable habitat, too, for wildlife.

Very interesting. Something quite different, from what you can see in the rest of desert.
