Description
Monterey Bay Aquarium is a non-profit public aquarium in California known for its regional focus on the marine habitats of Monterey Bay. The aquarium was the first to exhibit a living kelp forest, and its biologists have also pioneered the animal husbandry of jellyfish, and successfully caring for and displaying a great white shark.
See the conservation efforts focused on sea otters, various birds, and tunas, or learn from the Seafood Watch, a sustainable seafood advisory list published by the aquarium influencing the discussion surrounding sustainable seafood.
With over two million visitors each year, Monterey Bay Aquarium led the revitalization of Cannery Row, and produces hundreds of millions of dollars for the economy of Monterey County.
