Description
Within the Old Sacramento Historic District, a U.S. National Historic Landmark District, is Old Sacramento State Historic Park - a cluster of noteworthy, early Gold Rush commercial structures.
Be brought back in time and see historic buildings including the 1849 Eagle Theater; the 1853 B. F. Hastings Building, once home to the California Supreme Court; and the 1855 Big Four Building. The area's historical significance comes from Old Sacramento being the western terminus of the Pony Express postal system, the first transcontinental railroad, and the transcontinental telegraph.

If you see the cities on hwy49, then you can avoid this oldtown unless you want to see the railroad museum

One of the nicest historic 'western towns' we've seen - very nice to take a walk and have lunch, with some beautiful 'wild west' buildings

We liked it a lot but we were too late (7:30 pm) and most of the shops and restaurants were closed. I think its worth to go there earlier.
