Description
This old townsite, which is now empty, was built in a remote valley on the west side of Panamint Range. It was founded by two prospectors who found gold here. It later became known as the place where the only hanging in Death Valley took place. Hootch Simpson who killed a store owner after he failed to rob a bank in that store was hanged by the townspeople. Legends say he was hanged a second time so news photographers can take a photo.
Today, only remnants of a mine site can be found like shafts, equipment and structures.

Skidoo is a virtual ghost town located in Death Valley National Park. Skidoo is located off the Wildrose road on an unpaved high-clearance road not recommended for automobiles. Nothing remains of the actual townsite.
