Description
Penny Hot Springs are easily found at a large parking lot on the east side of Highway 133, a few hundred feet north of mile marker 55. Named after Dan Penny, who kept a small hotel on the railroad line upstream of Avalanche Creek, the pools can get flooded during spring snowmelt run-off.
The primitive hot springs have no amenities or bathroom facilities, as well as trash containers or a caretaker. Please be mindful and pack out everything brought in.

Free hot pools in a flowing cold river. You might have to build your own pool from rocks and also be lucky about the river flow. It is bit too high now.
