Description
The Wild Animal Sanctuary spans 789 acres and specializes in rescuing and caring for large predators, which are being ill-treated, for which their owners can no longer care, or which might be euthanized. It is home to more than 460 animals, and 192 staff to take care of them.
The sanctuary aims to get all of their animals into large acreage habitats once they're healed or in good shape, as it is designed with a central compound for receiving new animals and starting their recuperation and acclimation into these larger habitats.
Find tigers on the lower floor of the main compound, and an education center at the upper floor. The animals in this area have indoor/outdoor enclosures with play structures, and heated areas for the winter. There's also a common pool area, where tigers can take turns playing. Aside from tigers, the sanctuary also houses over 330 African lions, tigers, bears, leopards, cougars, timberwolves and other large carnivores.
