See the Captain James Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay. a 27-foot-high obelisk that marks the place where British explorer Captain James Cook met his violent end. Cook was well-known for traveling and mapping the uncharted waters of the world, when his crew landed at Kealakekua Bay in January 1779 to repair a broken mast. Although he was also known for his violent, tyrannical approach to the Indigenous people he encountered, initial relations with the Indigenous people were reportedly positive when the crew landed in Hawai'i.

Nice 4,5km walk from the street, simple monument in a nice bay, where you can snorkel and have a picnic
