Craters of the Moon National Monument, Arco, Idaho
Description
If you are spelunking in Craters of the Moon, you will first need to obtain a permit at the Visitor Center. The trail is usually crowded during summer. The lava tubes are rocky, chilly, and pitch black in some areas.
From the parking area, you will walk 250 yards in an open and paved path until you reach an uplifted lava rock. Interpretive signs about the lava tubes can be found here. You will then enter a cave which is only the first out of four caves you will pass. Here, campers can now clearly see the lava tubes.
