Description

Tree Molds trail passes through shrubs and stands of Limber pine in Craters of the Moon Wilderness. The lava flow here knocked down and burned trees. Today, visitors will see the charred tree trunks which had left impressions in the lava rock. Some trees are still standing when the lava encased them which left molds in the cooling lava.
