Description
The Presbytère is a Louisiana State Museum with two permanent exhibits that tell two sides of the ongoing Louisiana story.
The first is 'Mardi Gras: It's Carnival Time in Louisiana', which provides a window into the annual celebration and riotous rituals of Mardi Gras, a festival that has been woven into Louisiana's way of life. Aside from costumes, historical throws, and rare glimpses into the secretive social club society, visitors can also see Mardi Gras albums, records, sheet music and more that are also part of the collection.
On the other hand, 'The Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond' exhibit tells the story of rescue, rebuilding, and renewal of when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans' badly engineered levee system, and resulted in one of the worst disasters in American history.
