Description
Cosmic Campground International Dark Sky Sanctuary (CCIDSS) is the first International Dark Sky Sanctuary located on National Forest System lands, and is one of only 14 certified IDA Sanctuaries in the world.
The campground offers a 360-degree, unobstructed view of the night sky, and often hosts 'star parties' in cooperation with their partner group 'Friends of the Cosmic Campground.'
Campers are reminded that parking and setting campfires on observation and telescope pads are prohibited. Expect a primitive campground setup with minimal site amenities such as an information kiosk, a pit toilet, and four concrete telescope and observation pads.

This is a campground for people who want to enjoy the night sky. Dirt road access, Pit toilet, no water, no hook-ups, no trash cans, and concrete pads are built for telescopes in viewing area. Please read the visitor etiquette on website before going. Make sure you have a red light flashlight. No headlights & flashlights toward viewing area please.

Very open, can be windy. In Feb. 2018 the road in very slippery from rain.
