Description

The El Malpais National Monument Visitor Center has parking spots available for RVs and oversize vehicles. There's also a picnic area next to the front entrance, where visitors can have a picnic lunch, or stretch their legs on a short, 0.5-mile hiking trail just off from the parking area. Check out the Western National Parks Association bookstore that offers collectibles, books, gifts, and more that help support partner parks when purchased. The center also offers a 60-seat theater with on-request showings of the award winning film, 'Remembered Earth,' which is a 27-minute documentary that summarizes the high desert legacy of northwest New Mexico.
