Description
The Capulin Volcano is part of 8,000 square mile Raton-Clayton Volcanic Field, and showcases the volcanic geology of northeastern New Mexico. The monument protects and interprets an extinct cinder cone volcano, along with a paved road that spirals gradually around the volcano and visitors can drive up to a parking lot at the rim of the extinct volcano.
